– developing circles of support for pupils who receive additional support at Cumnock Academy
This is a new project where Equal Futures are working along with staff at Cumnock Academy and other organisations and community groups in the Cumnock area to develop circles of support for pupils who receive additional support at Cumnock Academy and are approaching the transition stage of moving on from school into further education, training, independent living.
This is an opportunity for young people to share their dreams, hopes and aspirations and set goals within a safe and secure group of people who can bring their own skills and strengths and develop pathways to reach targets together in a way that makes sense to the young person.
Within this project Equal Futures will recruit Volunteer Circle Facilitators. They will work to build an informal network of people who offer support and friendship around an individual and their families and carers. This network is referred to as a Transition Circle.
Kenny Walker has worked with Equal Futures as a Network Coordinator since 2012.
